BaKare Beds had a great show and it was really nice to meet up with some long term clients we now regard as old friends. There was a lot of interest in the new products with some great feedback on our Bellano range of double beds. A big thanks to everyone who made it a great event once again.

Patricks Bed

Written by steve baker. Posted in General, Testimonials

Some more lovely feedback regarding some assistance provided by our engineers in modifying a clients bed to suit their requirements:

It’s been some time now since the engineer replaced the lying surface of Patrick’s bed, and I have been meaning to write and thank you for arranging that.

It is SO MUCH BETTER!!  We are very pleased with it.  He enjoys sitting up in bed watching TV, and also has his physio on the bed and when the therapist has

finished, she arranges him within an additional sleeping system propping him up into the most beneficial positioning.

Everyone thinks there was a great improvement and we are all delighted that it works so well for him now!

Many thanks to all concerned, und vielen Dank auch an Ihren deutschen Kolleginen  schicke Ich!!

Kind regards and Best wishes from

Bakare Beds Backs New Measures To Protect Consumers

Written by steve baker. Posted in General

BaKare Beds is a member of The British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA), an inaugural member of the Trading Standards Institute’s (TSI) new Consumer Codes Approval Scheme being launched today to give customers greater confidence.

As a member of the BHTA (the UK’s oldest and largest healthcare association, founded in 1917), BaKare Beds is signed up to standards that go beyond our legal obligations in terms of the service we offer. That means customers can expect expert advice on the type of product that’s right for them, clear information about pricing and their cancellation rights, and no pressure selling – ever.

The Consumer Codes Approval Scheme has been given the Government’s official backing by Consumer Minister Jo Swinson, who said it will boost consumer confidence and encourage economic growth.

TSI Chief Executive Leon Livermore said: “The Government recognises the importance of this new scheme, which comes with an important sting in the tail. We will be reinforcing the fact that failure for any trader to comply with an industry code, whose logo they display, is a criminal offence for which they could face fines or imprisonment. We’re not going to be shy in tackling some of the biggest industries that cause the greatest problems to consumers.”

More than 15,000 traders have already signed up to one of nine approved codes of practice. Consumers will be able to look for the TSI Approved Code logo, or search a dedicated database at www.tradingstandards.gov.uk, for a member of an approved code in their area.

The new scheme includes a Consumer Advisory Panel, but also a permanent position for Citizens Advice on the Board. Citizens Advice Chief Executive Gillian Guy said: “We deal with over a million consumer problems each year and know how difficult it is for people to find a seller they can trust, the Approved Trader Scheme will help to combat this.”

BHTA Director General Ray Hodgkinson MBE said “We want consumers to be able to buy with confidence by going to BHTA member companies. We have powers to investigate and report on any complaints involving our members.  The Code of Practice sets out the standards that they must meet to demonstrate best practice in their business dealings. “We are delighted that our code has already achieved approval under the new Trading Standards Institute’s Consumer Codes Approval Scheme.  This means that our member companies must trade ethically and professionally.”

Beyond Injury, Achieving the extraordinary

Written by steve baker. Posted in General

Beyond Injury, Achieving the extraordinary” is the motto of the Race2Recovery team.

Conceived in 2010 when two IED injured soldiers met at Headley Court Recovery Centre and decided that racing was to help them move forward with their recovery process and next steps in life, Race2Recovery is a predominantly disabled rally team, manned by a team of volunteers, racing to inspire those who are injured, disabled or facing adversity, by competing in the Dakar Rally in South America during January 2014. Those members of team that have been wounded in combat have a huge variety of injuries; some have injuries that are more apparent than others, but each person has had their life completely changed. Be it missing limbs, spinal and respiratory injuries, to psychological and fragmentation injuries, each has resolved to prove that their injury will not stop them completing the toughest race on the planet.

2013 saw the Race2Recovery team become the first team including an amputee to start and finish the Dakar rally in its history. For 2014, Dakar Rally organisers have deliberated made the already formidable and sometimes deadly rally more difficult. The Dakar Rally Raid typically covers over 10,000km in 15 days through Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. With typical speeds of between 70-120mph and up to 1000km covered per day through some of the most arduous terrain on the planet the stress and strain on the driving team, vehicle and the mechanics is beyond comprehension. The wounded soldiers hope that the teamwork, sense of humour and experience of sleep deprivation built up during their time in the military will give them an edge over the other more experienced teams in this event.

Evening bulletins are provided by British Eurosport daily at 10pm.
